Life on the Bay

This custom build was tailored to the needs of a busy professional family that spend quality time on Georgian Bay, with room for all to have fun & privacy. Entertaining and relaxing are priorities. The design would allow the family to move in full-time eventually. The home would need casual and formal dining areas, and accommodate occasional extended family visits.

The team of architectural, interior and landscape design professionals at Black Tusk was asked to assist with lot selection, and to plan a home with the master suite on the ground level set away for privacy. The home would take advantage of a corner lot location for light and views. Thoughtful landscaping would provide screening from the street and enhance site connection to the Bay and outdoor spaces.

The design solution arrived at by Black Tusk started with a traditional Craftsman style home with covered porches connecting interior spaces to the outdoors. Clean contemporary interior lines reflect the client’s style. Custom cabinetry throughout culminates in a stunning cherry wood kitchen suited to the homeowners unique needs. Office space over the garage allows for the later transition to full time occupancy. The home includes a casual eating nook for everyday use, along with a formal dining room for entertaining and special family functions. There’s an away room for reading and listening to music. A large stone terrace and pool connect the home to the site and the Bay.
